Off Piste Ski Weekend

Introduction

Test your legs, test your skis and join us in Chamonix for an early season ski hit – get your legs and turns back into shape with some on-piste drills for off-piste thrills! We have chosen Chamonix for this quick fix of skiing, as it is outlandishly good for off-piste skiing of all grades, as well as having miles of groomed slopes. And, it's really quiet in early January. The skiing is in one of the most striking settings in the world; nestled at the foot of Western Europe’s highest mountain, the pistes skirt the lower slopes of the most impressive jagged peaks, all interspersed with huge, sweeping glaciers tumbling from the highest ramparts of the Alps.

Pre-Course Skiing Ability

Grade: Grade 7A and above [ Ski Grading ]
This long weekend is open to anyone who has at least 4 weeks’ skiing experience, who can ski multiple linked turns on red runs confidently, without tiring. If you are unsure, please call us for advice. We hope to cover a wide range of experience and skiing ability by matching people with similar skills and aspirations into groups – led by an Instructor.

Avalanche Awareness and Risk

As soon as you head off piste you need to be aware of avalanche risks. Instructors are trained and well-versed in avalanche avoidance and will educate you in safety matters and rescue procedures. However, by its very nature, off piste skiing is a risky business, not just because of avalanche danger, but also from the danger posed by hidden rocks, streams, small cliffs or trees, not to mention other skiers and snowboarders!
