Everest 2000 - The Millennium Expedition

Written by Leader Andrew Lock, December 2000

Summiters: Andrew Lock, Paul Giorgio, Nima Ghombu Sherpa. Expedition leader, Andrew Lock's account of the summit climb is available on the despatches page of this site (access from the 'About us' page). This is an impressive report of what sounds like a steady hike up the world's highest mountain for the three climbers on the second time up in 9 days! The ascent has considerable significance: This was Andrew's 7th 8,000m peak - he has now climbed more 8,000ers than any other Australian. Paul has climbed his first 8,000er (almost twice!). Nima Ghombu has now climbed Everest 6 times. This is Jagged Globe's 5th successful Everest expedition.« Previous report | »
