Training for the Matterhorn

Here are father and son team James and Mike on our Advanced Scrambling course last weekend. Instructor, Mick explains:

"They were keen to brush up on their existing skills and to get onto more complicated ground to prepare them for a future ascent of the Matterhorn. We headed into Idwal on the Saturday and started on a grade 2 scramble Idwal Buttress Continuation and then up the classic grade 3 Cneifion ArÍte. They did very well on the Saturday so were keen to push themselves on the Sunday. We headed back into the slabs and made ascent of charity with an abseil descent, looking at lots of rope work , belay building and looking after themselves on the scramble off. The weather was fantastic and the guys had a great weekend."

Places are available on Jagged Globe Advanced Scrambling weekends in June, July, August and September.
